are Azalea leaves good for bunnies? we have a few azalea (sp) bushes in our backyard and i feed the leaves to my six year old bunny but i was wondering if they%26#039;re good for bunnies? like will my bunny get any nutrition from them or anything? thanks!

Reply:Aside from obvious toxins like insecticides, rodenticides, and cleaning supplies, be aware that common plants such as aloe, **azalea**, Calla lily, Lily of the Valley, philodendron, and assorted plant bulbs can be poisonous to rabbits.
Please do your research on if something is safe for your pets, BEFORE feeding it to them, in the future!!!!!

Is this a good prank???
One of my neighbors is a son of a b*tch and we are always messing with each other. Recently, I put some of my garbage in his kid%26#039;s playhouse and he actually had the nerve to uproot one of my new azalea bushes. I want to get him back so I think I%26#039;m going to put a rattlesnake in his mailbox. What do you think? Any better ideas? I really want to get this guy back for that azalea bush.

a snake is just plain mean and could be construed (by a prosecuting attorney) as attempted murder.. not a good plan. it could be one of his kids that goes to get the mail.. and that would be very, very bad.. I%26#039;d think he%26#039;d pull out more than just your azalea... think body parts.

Please note this does not include roses. Most roses grow well with a soil pH of 5.5 to 7, although a pH of 6.5 is ideal. While slightly acidic soils range form pH 5.8 to 6.5 and extremely acid soils range from pH 4.0-5.0. Roses are not considered acid loving plants but they tolerate slight acidity. But plants, such as azaleas, rhododendrons, blueberries, white potatoes and conifer trees, tolerate strong acid soils and grow well at pH5.0 - 5.5.

Azalea branches need to be selectively pruned. Use your hand pruners. Do not take hedge clippers to them. It%26#039;s time consuming. But, you can remove the branches at their base to eliminate the stragglers and open up bushes to allow greater air circulation and sunlight into the bush. Prune after they bloom.
Monkey grass (mondo) is attractive year round and does not need mowing. Monkey grass is an evergreen grass. It is often confused with liriope. Both species need to be divided and thinned in the spring. Slip an old knife into the plant to remove sections of plant and replant them to propagate or share with friends and family. Old growth on both species can be cut back with kitchen shears, scissors, or, if aggressive, it can be mowed. But you don%26#039;t want to remove the new growth.
Some gardeners shear or mow their monkey grass in late February or early March just before the new growth appears. You want to avoid doing this too soon so that you don%26#039;t have to look at sheared monkey grass. Some people mow at the highest mower setting if the edging or bed is not too thick.
